Some obsessions can't be contained. Some love can't be ignored. Some lines, once crossed, change everything.
She knew it was wrong.
She knew it from the moment she bought the zip ties.
When loving him from a distance became unbearable — when every interview, every photo, every sold-out show felt like a personal cruelty — something in her snapped.
She didn't plan it perfectly. She just did it.
Now he's here. In her space. Looking at her like she's dangerous.
She is.
She read everything about Stockholm Syndrome — the bond that forms between captor and captive, the way fear can twist into something that feels almost like need. She told herself she understood it clinically.
She didn't expect to feel it herself.
What happens when the person you stole starts to feel like yours — and you start to feel like theirs?
Content warnings: kidnapping, captivity, explicit sexual content, obsessive behavior, stockholm syndrome dynamics.
Idol is a dark, obsessive romance (M/F). Reader discretion advised.
When I first started Idol, I wasn’t sure it was going to be a book for me. The writing took me a little while to get used to, and I never fully connected with the characters the way I normally like to. At times they felt a bit distant, which made it harder for me to become emotionally invested in their journey.
That said, the plot kept me turning the pages. As the story progressed, I found myself wanting to know what would happen next, and by the end I was genuinely glad I stuck with it. There was a twist near the ending that completely caught me off guard. It wasn’t one of those twists that made me rethink everything that came before, but it was still a fun surprise that I didn’t see coming.
Overall, while I never formed a strong emotional connection with the characters, I still found Idol to be an entertaining read with an engaging storyline that grew on me the further I read. If you’re someone who enjoys an intriguing plot this is worth picking up.
