“But what is love if it’s not worth the risk of pain? For her, I will risk everything.” – Dr. Rath Slader
**SPOILERS AHEAD**
This is a dark, taboo (doctor/patient) romance (MF).
Let me start off by saying this book is not for everyone.
We start out with a doctor/anesthesiologist who knew from the moment he met his patient that they were meant for each other. He ends up taking advantage of her while she is in a medically induced coma because of something he did. Because of his trauma filled past, he does not think there is anything inherently wrong with what he is doing. He loves her with all he is and vows to do anything and everything for her before she is even awakened from the coma.
This story deals with a lot of trauma and how it affects people differently. How they think, act, love, what’s right, what’s wrong, and more. When I went into this, I wasn’t sure what to really expect other than the general idea from glancing at the blurb. The author did a lot of research for this story and she even states in the beginning this story could be triggering. It is best to make sure you read the triggers to ensure your well-being. Your mental health matters!
I enjoyed this story quite a bit. I got to know the MMC on a deeper level and got to understand why he acts and thinks the way he does. This in no way excuses what he did though. In the end, it wasn’t HEA, it was more bittersweet in my opinion.
In no way does the author condone this behavior. She explains this before the story begins and at the end within her notes.
Rape is Rape.
